范朋飞，男，博士，教授。2016年7月后在中山大学做科研工作。
2002年毕业于华中农业大学，同年考入中国科学院昆明动物研究所，2007年毕业获得理学博士学位。2007年6月到大理学院生化学院工作，2009年破格晋升副教授，2011年破格晋升教授。2009年获选成为中国灵长类专家组专家，并获得中国“优秀青年动物生态学工作者“称号。2010年受邀成为世界自然保护联盟（IUCN）物种存活委员会（SCC）灵长类专家组专家。2011获选成为第十届云南省动物学会常务理事,并被评为“云南省中青年学术技术带头人”培养对象。
曾主持了“中越联合东黑冠长臂猿种群数量调查（中方专家）”（2007年9月，FFI）、“西双版纳白颊长臂猿访问调查”（2008年12月，已结题，Gibbon Conservation Alliance）、“广西东黑冠长臂猿栖息地调查和食性初步研究”（2007- 2008年，已结题，FFI）、“滇西高黎贡山及周边地区百眉长臂猿种群数量调查”（2008 - 2009， Rufford Small Grant）、 “东黑冠长臂猿研究和保护”（2008-2009，CLP）、“东黑冠长臂猿的行为生态学研究”(2009-2010，已结题，国际科学研究基金)、 “跨边境中越东黑冠长臂猿栖息地评估”（2010-2011，已结题，CLP）、“东白眉长臂猿野外调查和生态学研究”（2010-2011，已结题，FFI）、 “高黎贡山白眉长臂猿觅食行为生态学研究”(省基金，2010-2012)、“东黑冠长臂猿对喀斯特森林的行为适应机制”（国家基金2010 -2012）、“东黑冠长臂猿重要食物的营养分析”（2010-2012，PRCF）、“栖息地退化对东部白眉长臂猿行为生态的影响”（2012-2015，国家基金）。
作为骨干成员参与了国家自然科学基金（#30670270）“黑长臂猿社群结构与栖息地及其生态行为关系”（2006年1月至2009年12月，已完成）、国际合作项目“滇南、滇东南黑长臂猿种群数量调查”（已完成，FFI资助）、“南滚河国家级自然保护区白掌长臂猿调查”（已完成，Gibbon Conservation Alliance）和“高黎贡山赧亢灵长类多样性和分布调查”（已完成，Rufford Small Grant）等研究工作。
